Continuing Education Requirements for Court Appointed Special Advocates

CASA volunteers are required to acquire 12 CEU’s each fiscal year (July 1st – June 30th) to keep up with Phelps/Harlan County CASA & National CASA standards.

The purpose is to ensure that volunteers stay educated and informed on issues within the juvenile dependency system and specific areas of interest that relate to your individual case, or help to prepare you to work on a different type of case in the future.

Additionally, it is a requirement as specified by the Judicial Council.

This requirement can be met through books, movies, television shows and on-line trainings as well as attending Phelps/Harlan County CASA sponsored trainings.
